YOUNG AMBASSADEURS ENGAGEMENT ASSO
Putting faces on the social engagement of a youth.

Through the faces of Azifati, Hinde, Mouskéba, Emmanuel and so many others, it is the dynamism of a committed and active youth which presents itself to us, selected since
10 years in all French regions through the Franco-American exchange program | YOUNG AMBASSADORS OF ASSOCIATIVE ENGAGEMENT |, the result of cooperation between the Embassy of the United States of America in Paris and the French government.

Since 2008, high school students in working-class French districts have been encouraged to develop and affirm their commitments in the service of social causes. After a dossier selection and interview, the program offers intensive training and team building activities and a two-week stay in the United States. They are called upon to define, at the end of this course, the actions and skills that will be necessary for them to better serve the general interest.

These portraits are those of young people who participated in the program between 2008 and 2017.

The association of program alumni | Young ambassadors of associative commitment | brings together the three hundred and thirty participants from the various promotions of the program. The association animates the network of former beneficiaries both personally, academically and professionally. It thus plays an essential role with the new generations of Young Ambassadors and works to promote values shared by the elders such as cultural exchange and openness, associative commitment and its virtues, and the prospects of success through the school.

The 2019 call for applications is currently open, until March 31:

Portraits of youth committed to community service

The portraits of Azifati, Hinde, Mouskeba, Emmanuel and many other Youth Ambassadors alumni, showcase the dynamism of an engaged and active youth. Over the past ten years, participants have been selected from throughout France for this Franco-American exchange program |YOUTH AMBASSADORS FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE|. This exchange program is the result of a cooperation between the U.S. Embassy in France and the French government.

Since the program’s creation in 2008, high school students from historically underserved and low-income regions throughout France who demonstrate leadership potential and a passion for community service apply through a competitive essay and interview process to represent their country as Youth Ambassadors.  The program includes a year of intensive training and teambuilding activities in France, a two-week visit to the U.S., and a “Weekend of Reflection” during which participants reflect on their experiences as Youth Ambassadors and brainstorm on how to apply their new skills to better serve their communities.

These portraits feature alumni of the Youth Ambassadors for Community Service exchange program (2008 – 2017).

The Youth Ambassadors Alumni association brings together three hundred and thirty alumni of the Youth Ambassadors for Community Service program. The association organizes activities for the alumni’s personal, scholarly, and professional development. It plays an essential role for the new generations of the Youth Ambassadors program and aims to promote shared values such as cultural exchange and openness, community service and its virtues, and the perspectives of success through school.
